Clients & Projects
LICO2e™ specialize in development and management of public-private partnerships, especially corporate-community stakeholder collaborations, committed to ‘carbon negative’ strategies and projects, large and small, at the local level.
We are committed to partnerships that establish and implement decarbonization strategies that are positively disruptive in nature (environmentally, socially, and economically), and that clearly contribute to the mitigation of, and adaptation to climate change impacts at the local and regional level.
These individual projects are often not currently marketable in voluntary offset markets (e.g. Kildegaard Farm, & WestCAP - below), but in aggregation, clearly contribute to:
LICO2e™ is also engaged with our growing list of clients, partners, and stakeholders to conceptualize, benchmark, aggregate, market, and broker voluntary carbon offsets, that target ‘carbon negative’ outcomes. We provide collaborative support to the development of offset opportunities based on ‘additionality’ and established protocols by which offsets are verified, certified, third-party audited, and sold in the market.

- growing community resilience and self-sufficiency;
- social equity of shared access and economic benefit;

Formed by the Indian Land Tenure Foundation (ILTF) and the Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC), NICC is an Indian-led non-profit program that helps tribal nations and individual Indian landowners take advantage of carbon credit and environmental commodities markets through the development of carbon sequestration or offset projects. LICO2e™ (w/ the St Croix Institute), is the exclusive contractual vendor for Carbon Offset & Renewable Energy Credits Program Management in support of the NICC mission. Priority focus is on economic development opportunities that preserve tribal nation and tribal member land ownership, while returning profits to reservation economies and communities.

Agriculture
Kildegaard Farm is an exceptionally valued client, who we are partnering with to benchmark, develop protocol, and eventually sell soil carbon offsets from their carefully managed rotational grazed cattle. The evidence is very strong in not only recognizing the critical carbon sink that soil represents, but in the integrity of the growing science in support of rotational grazing as a valuable carbon sequestration strategy.

Social Equity & Benefit
It’s been been a privilege to work with West Central Wisconsin Community Action Partnership (WestCAP), who provides a highly diverse menu of carbon offset opportunities in service to the elimination of poverty and development of financial security of the families they serve across nine (9) counties. WestCAP, a well-known national leader among the 1,100-plus CAP agencies across the country, represents the opportunity for nation-wide replicability, and scalability. Success with this client represents the best of all worlds in realizing social equity outcomes through strategic environmental investments.
LICO2e™ is actively engaged in public-private partnership conversations with numerous entities, and national implications. We move with a sense of urgency, as we have little time to waste. Previous work with WestCAP, under the original St Croix Institute for Sustainable Community Development, includes an extensive case study research project (funded by the Bremer Foundation), for assessing the renewable energy production capacity of low-to-moderate income homes already weatherized by the agency. That report can be downloaded here with expectation of appropriate crediting to SCI and LICO2e™: westcap_-_bremer_project_-_final.pdf |
Community Action Partnership (CAP) is a national, 501(c)3 nonprofit membership organization that provides technical assistance, training, and other resources to Community Action Agencies, nonprofit and public groups funded by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), a federal program that allocates funding to states to connect Americans to greater opportunity. LICO2e™ (GBC) has previously served as the consultant and manager to the National Board of the CAP in regards to initiatives and partnerships for the conceptualization, development and brokerage of ‘Carbon Offsets’ (CO’s), and/or Renewable Energy Credits (REC’s) leveraged from the mission and programmatic offerings of Community Action Agencies (CAA), across the country.
